Managing Stress Symptoms With Hypnotherapy And NLP


Telling someone who is feeling anxious, stressed or experiencing a full-blown panic attack to “just calm down” may seem both calming and helpful. Chances are, however, the exact opposite of that well-meaning-yet-oh-so-unhelpful pearl of wisdom will occur.

Stress is a physical response to events that make you feel threatened or upset your balance when you sense danger whether it’s real or imagined – the body's defences kick into high gear in a rapid, automatic process known as the “fight or flight” reaction, or the stress response.

Symptoms of stress

Stress can affect how you feel and how your body works. We all have pressures in life; the key question is how you cope with those pressures. Here are some symptoms that may indicate that stress is becoming a problem:

  • trouble getting to sleep or staying asleep

  • digestive problems

  • loss of appetite

  • adrenalin rushes, indicating that the "fight or flight" hormone is being activated more than normal

  • difficulty concentrating

  • worrying about decisions or unwillingness to plan for the future

  • headaches

  • aching muscles

  • drinking more alcohol than usual
