EMDR Therapy

EMDR is recognised by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) as a treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and the World Health Organisation (WHO), also recognises it as an effective treatment for children. Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)  is a therapeutic integrative psychotherapy approach designed to alleviate tpsychological stresshe distress associated with traumatic memories. The notion underlying it is that the mind, much like the body, can recover from trauma. Initially formulated for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), EMDR has proven efficacious for a range of issues, including anxiety and depression. It offers a route to emotional stability, often eschewing the necessity for prolonged talk therapy. EMDR is an evidence-based therapy that has proven very effective in helping individuals of all ages to process traumatic memories. It can be helpful in treating a wide range of problems, such as:
