Is Therapy Good for You?

Not everyone needs therapy, but just because you don’t need something doesn’t mean you won’t benefit from it.

Everyone and anyone can benefit from some form of therapy. Psychotherapy, behavioural therapy, counselling, CBT, family therapy or hypnotherapy, isn’t it time we all took better care of our mental and emotional health?

Most of us know that it’s important to look after our physical health, after all, it’s the only body we get, so it’s important that we keep it as healthy as possible for as long as possible. You don’t need to, you just know that if you want to increase the likelihood of a living a longer, healthier and happier life, you should.

And so, given that the mind resides in the body (the only body we get) it makes sense to keep it fit and healthy also, right?

Therapy isn’t always about what needs to be fixed, it can help be helpful in so many ways, and you don’t have to wait until you need it to use it.

I believe that if more of us looked at therapy as a health check for the mind, a regular health check, we would see a decrease in mental health issues and very likely, live in a happier society.

Therapy isn’t always about the negative either. Talking about the things in your life that make you happy, things that you love to do, to have and the things that you’ve achieved and are grateful for, will make you feel even happier, and we all deserve to be happy!

A therapy room is a safe place, a sanctuary, a place where you can be you, without judgement. A therapist will be objective, have an empathetic ear and can help you navigate your way through challenges, major decisions and life choices. You might be looking for clarity, for change, to trust your gut, to love yourself, to improve your relationships, to have confidence in yourself and your abilities.

And let’s not forget the more common reasons people come into therapy. Stress, anxiety, fears, phobias, depression, addiction, bad habits, pain management, childhood trauma, emotional trauma, grief, fertility issues, menopause, insomnia, self-improvement, sports performance, stage fright the list goes on.

It’s good to talk, to get things off your chest, to be heard and to hear yourself. To talk about your dreams, literally and otherwise, your ambitions, your fears, your worries and concerns, your mistakes and your triumphs, things you might not share with anyone else and to gain a better understanding of your emotions, your patterns, habits, inner thoughts and inner self-talk.

Hypnotherapy is used to readjust the subconscious mind. In hypnosis, you allow your mind and body to go into a heightened state of learning, making you more open to positive suggestions for self-improvement or behaviour modification. The goal is to rebalance the subconscious and conscious mind allowing them to work together in harmony, which in turn helps give you greater control over your behaviour, emotions and physical wellbeing.

Your mental and emotional health is an investment, and by investing your time and energy into looking after it, may very well turn out to be the best investment you could possibly make.
