Effective Leadership Skills 8 Secrets to Great Leadership

Leadership. What does it take to be a leader? Can you learn to be a leader?

According to Stephen Reicher at the University of St Andrews, there are 4 qualities a leader must possess:

  1. A leader must be seen as one of the group (in which they intend to serve)

  2. They must act on behalf of the group above all other interests

  3. Their efforts must bear fruit

  4. The must have the skills to shape group character (AKA “Entrepreneurs of identity)

I’ll add 4 qualities:

  • A healthy sense of self

  • Self-confidence

  • Self-belief

  • Selflessness – the desire to be of service to others

Question; If you don’t already possess the attributes or qualifications to be a great leader, can you learn and develop them?

Answer: Absolutely.

Any leader will know that leadership begins at home. In other words, leadership starts with being adept at leading your own life and you get there by understanding how your mind works, only then can you begin to understand how the minds of others work and become a leader.

So where’s a good place to start if you want to develop the skills of a leader?

  • Clinical Hypnotherapy. With the help of a professional Clinical Hypnotherapist you can fast-track your way to possessing leadership qualities. As confidence is a state of mind, and hypnotherapy works with changing your mindset, you can learn to overcome self limiting beliefs that have been holding you back. Which brings me nicely onto…

  • Mindset / Life Coach. Mindset Coach and Life Coach are often used synonymously. Broadly speaking, coaching is about helping you get from where you are now to where you want to be, and so it could be said that all coaching is mindset coaching. A positive mindset helps you make better choices and decisions. It helps you recognise opportunities when they present themselves and to act on them with confidence.

  • Practice Mindfulness. Mindfulness is the ability to be fully present in the moment, aware of where you are and what you’re doing, while not overreacting or becoming overwhelmed by what’s going on around you. Mindfulness practice improves focus and concentration under pressure.

  • Meditate. You’ve probably heard this a million times before and may or may not have dismissed it as new-age mumbo-jumbo. Maybe you just don’t have (don’t make) the time for it, after all, there’s a million and one other things to do in a day right? It’s manic out there! But imagine for a moment, if all you needed to do in order to accomplish twice as much and be twice as successful, was to sit quietly for 15 or 20 minutes a day. Just a thought… excuse the pun.

  • Self-hypnosis. Hypnosis is an everyday state, like daydreaming, when you are deeply relaxed or focused so intently on something, that you are momentarily unaware of anything else. This is a highly receptive state and the perfect state of mind to reinforce positive change. In my book “Health Wealth & Hypnosis ~ The way to a beautiful life” you will learn the art of self-hypnosis, and begin to understand the workings of your own mind.
